By bringing hard difficult maths questions or past papers, we can understand the level of learning that we need to reach with your children and how we can help build up to the questions they find less encouraged to answer.
Do Homework Before the Maths Tutoring
By doing homework beforehand, your child will feel better prepared and in the studying mindset to continue with a tutoring session. This can build up their knowledge and help them achieve new material within each session.
On top of this, doing homework beforehand can help your child in finding potential difficulties in the homework questions, which can lead to us discussing and answering them together in the session, which will help better their grades and confidence in the subject.
Don’t Be Afraid of Asking for Help
Maths tutors in Brighton know how difficult and stressful it can be for children to feel confident in asking for help. In classrooms, it can feel intimidating to ask teachers for help if their friends understand or the teacher feels discouraging. That’s why our maths tutors will always accept questions, even if we spend an entire tutoring session going through one question together.
The idea of maths tutoring is to encourage students in topics where they feel unmotivated or intimidated, and if it takes an entire session to understand the concept of one maths problem, we don’t mind!
We want your child to feel confident in all aspects of maths, helping them find the method of answering questions, which may lead them to feeling confident in all aspects of that maths topic.
Review and Goal Setting
At the end of every maths tutoring session, we hope to review the content for your child and check in with them to see how they feel with the problems solved and the methods used. After this, we will try and set goals for the next session, including small problems to try or things to look over in preparation for the tutoring. This will give your child a chance to trial and error the methods and equations done within the sessions, and hopefully build their confidence in the subject.
