How to Study

This session teaches students the process of achieving efficient time management strategies for navigating a heavy workload. Students will also learn how to break down tasks within their coursework and exam preparation into more manageable components.

⁠Revision

This session involves honing effective note-making skills to enhance both the efficiency and efficacy of study sessions. Additionally, participants delve into the application of the rule of 3 when approaching practice papers to increase familiarity with exam formats.

How to Tackle Exams

The final session concerns mock exams, and teaches how to leverage past papers as valuable tools for identifying and rectifying mistakes. The session also provides insights into achieving success on exam day, imparting strategies for completing exams efficiently and with reduced stress.

Elio Yague

Elio commenced his career as a Modern Foreign Language (MFL) tutor. Observing a decline in students’ familiarity with revision and examination techniques attributed to the transition to online learning, Elio developed an interest in imparting general study skills concurrently with subject-specific content. Recognising that academic achievement in GCSE and A-Level examinations hinges not solely on subject-specific knowledge but also on effective study skills, Elio has provided specific study skills tutoring since 2020. Both students and parents have attested to the enhanced confidence exhibited by students in their capacity to excel in examinations as a result of Elio’s guidance.

The Year 11 Study Skills Workshop is a focused, interactive session aimed at helping students build effective exam and revision strategies . It covers critical reading, analytical thinking, and answer planning through a structured blend of discussion, practice, and peer review.
